Reply:
I see a serial number A 1381859 on a Dyna-Flow water heater.
The Dyna-Flow water heater is made by American Appliance Manufacturers, Inc. - I have placed this information here under Amerian Water Heater. Co. pending more information.
A plausible guess is that the age of this water heater is encoded as A WWYY123
If that's correct the heaer was made in the 13th week of 1983. I'm researching the question further.
The original American Appliance Manufacturing Company was founded ca 1952 by Everett S. Todd and Bert Sutton in Santa Monica California in 1952. the company later became Mor-Flo American, or Mor-Flo Water Heaters. Mr. Todd passed away in California in April, 1990.
In 1981 American Appliance Manufacturing Company, in Santa Monica CA, was focused on solar water heaters until 1992 when the company left that city.
The currennt (2018) American Water Heater Company (described above) includes in the company's current product line the DynaClean™ Automatic Sediment-Cleaning System** that may be a coincidental use of the Dyna- phrase or might be a descendant of Dyna-Flow water heaters.
The current (2018) American Appliance Manfuacturing Co., a producer of appliance parts, and given below, is a different company.
